LOWER FOOD PRICES- Peppers

Peppers and tomatoes are staples consumed by majority of the world population especially Nigeria where almost every meal contains pepper.

Peppers and tomatoes contain rich amount of nutrients including vitamin C and A which boost eye sight and immunity. It possess anti inflammatory, anti cancer properties and other amazing health benefits.

Imagine what the absence of these essential nutrients will do to our bodies and the pressure it will put on our health sector as sick people flood in with diet deficiency related illnesses.

The rising cost of peppers and tomatoes in the country since mid last year 2024 has now become a norm. Pepper that was retailed for ₦200 rose to ₦1,000 last year, during the Islamic festive season, surprisingly we witnessed a sudden drop back to normal prices the very next day after the festivals. It was clear that the rise in price was manipulated.

Now that we are approaching another Islamic festival the prices has gone up, in fact prices started rising from the Muslim fast this year 2025.

I had an opportunity to speak with three major food distributors in Lagos all having stores at the two major food hub in Lagos. These distributors go to the farms to buy foodstuffs themselves because it's cheaper.

They explained that there is food in the farms but the main challenge is access roads! In fact there are vehicles to move the food but these drivers charge so much due to the damages on their vehicles using these bad roads Some roads are not even accessible. Since there are no roads, access to fuel station is also a challenge. A driver can ride kilometres on bike in search of fuel and diesel.

Apart from other challenges farmers experience like the cost of fertilisers and pesticides, the construction of roads to their farms is definitely not within their control.

Accessible roads will also give security agents access to protect farmers from attackers. These attackers take undue advantage of the lack of access roads to launch attacks on farmers in remote areas.

The challenge of storage is also there since there is no access to power supply or steady power supply to power storage facilities for perishables, so it is safer for farmers to get their harvests into the markets as fast as possible.

These major food distributors also said that farmers watch their foods go to waste due to delays in taking them to the markets. Distributors who get to them have to pay more using multiple bikes to move large amount of foods to the major roads which is kilometres away, then load them into a waiting truck thereby adding to the selling prices of food.

The distributors I spoke to looked tired and stressed, a state that shouldn't be if these stressful conditions don't exist because the selling food item is quite lucrative but the stress levels take them to the hospital often.

The state government will do well to face this challenges because it is not beyond them to construct roads into major farm areas in the country. They should create a centralised farmer's market near these major farms with accessible roads.

The rising cost of food in the country has led to the importation of foods and other long term perishable items yet Nigeria has all the fertile land for producing her own food.

Imagine if the government in other countries abandon roads leading to their farm lands and allow farmers to stress then there will be food scarcity all over the world.

Our state government should take responsibility and do the needful before things gets worse.

STEP DOWN FOR UNITY & PEACE- Political aspirants

Reflecting on the situation of the country and praying for  solutions to come. During my search online for a map with the geographical locations of the dams in Nigeria to see if our internal dams may have added to our problems by slowing down the movement of water within, in and out of the country. Nigeria is not a dry land! There are lots of dams in this country and its shocking the hydroelectricity generated is not benefiting the country as it should.

In my reflections & online research I stumbled on a friend's post and she (a priestess) guided through her post for people to open page number X and read line Y of the book closest to them, I instinctively followed her guide, I looked around me & the closest book to me was my Bible the new testament and when I opened it lo & behold: it was Matthew 12 vs 25 where Jesus said: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolution, every city or house divided against itself will not stand" and the Spirit just spoke to me and it said: that is the root cause of the problem in your country- Nigeria!

Whatever that is done will only be temporary fixes that will still collapse. The disunity in this country, the wickedness in the hearts of some of those in leadership positions both in the public and private sector is dividing against itself. The corrupt are at war against each other, the thieves are hating & envious of the bigger thieves wishing to be in their position to embezzle public funds. The loudest of critics are given political position so that they can make noise but against the people who oppose them, especially those they once claimed to protest for but of course, you don't talk when food is in your mouth; they become silent when they get a large size of their own share of the national cake leaving their supporters heart broken. Now Alluta has gone "solo" nobody wants to support any government critic, every body use their voice individually to express themselves on social media.

We cannot ignore the multi -religious & multi-ethnic sentiments that is growing louder every day. We cannot also say that the state of insecurity in this country is not rooted in the protest against the marginalisation of the south east & other minor ethnic groups which is also affecting our economy negatively. It is the internal unrest that attracted the the external troubles- Terrorism.  So many lifes have been lost as a result of this instability. Waste of monies on weapons in a country where there are starving children & students are out of school because lecturers can't be paid what they deserve. We are also losing our best doctors & other professionals to countries who didn't invest in their education because our leaders do not know how to utilise human resources.

Those candidates who are contesting have suddenly forgotten that this country is divided into six geopolitical zones, maybe they also need to remember that independent ethnic groups sacrificed their personal identity to be grouped under tribes that does not at all reflect who they are because Urhobo, Itsekeri is not Igbo but it is South South and grouped as Igbos, Ebira, Lokoja is not Hausa but it is North Central and so many independent ethnic groups ruled by monarchs who sacrificed their personal identity for the unity of this country but today we see individuals who cannot sacrifice their desire for power. On one hand is Senator Tinubu who feels entitled and on the other  is Alhaji Atiku who carries this energy like someone who needs this power to achieve some certain private objective which has nothing to do with making more money.

Our political leaders before them divided this country into six geopolitical zones for a reason the present leaders are yet to exploit due to selfishness. In their wisdom they may have seen that it was easier to group all the independent ethnic groups into six, we can also see that the north and south both have three zones each for balance. Since these six zones own this country called Nigeria with each allowing the zone heading the central government to take the natural resources from their land for the good of all the groups involved, then why should two out of the three major tribes be rotating leadership without including the third tribe? Yet they expect their political enemies not to use that malicious oversight as a weapon to make their own governance a mess!

It is so easy for an outsider to make an enemy out of a family member who feels left out of his own home; the enemy will present his evil proposal to him as a genuine concern, give him weapons to fight for his right and as he fights the enemies objectives are fulfilled but the wise within or around will see that the best way to win is to bring in the prodigal son and take care of him so that the wars can end.

If truly Sen. Ahmed Tinubu & Alh. Atiku are true elder statesmen as they have often claimed then they will step down and anoint a South eastern candidate who will represent the interests of their party & geopolitical zones, also ensure that the religious sentiments are not at all ignored because it is a very sensitive one. They should step down and get a South East Presidential candidate, a Christian and a North Eastern Vice President who must be a Muslim. Let power go to the South east but for APC, PDP, LP etc. to stop this unrest, to avert  misfortune. All South eastern candidates from two major parties will be a big challenge for the main aspirant from the east.

The leaders who divided this country into six geopolitical zones were going some where with it, which may mean they wanted power to shift from North to South and to rotate within the three zones as President and Vice President. So why should all parties produce candidates from other zones to compete with a zone whose turn it is to lead? If it is the turn of the South East then let all the political parties of all the other zones go to the south east and shop for someone that will represent their interests just as the South east will produce someone who will represent their own interest too, after their eight years tenure, then power moves naturally, with no struggle back to the North maybe by that time it will be North Central and the South East will also chose a North Central person that will represent their interest until it comes back to the South again to the South west for stability, predictability and progress.

We cannot continue to pretend that these things don't matter. Every tribe matters! Every religion matters! We cannot continue to allow this disunity to lead this country to the path of self destruction. Those who have kept their children & family out of this country for safety & stability reasons should not think that they will be safe for long if things continue to get worse in this country.

Remember, a former Senate president whose daughter needs a kidney transplant.... all the challenges they are facing is a reaction from the unrest going on in this country. Many of the families of the elite and ruling class will face similar victimisation in future as a result of this failing state called Nigeria.

Let Nigeria move forward so that peace can reign! Our survival as a nation is only possible on the solid foundation of peace and strong pillars of unity. There will be more money to embezzle for those who can't let go of the propensity to steal but there will be immediate consequences for them. Let Nigeria progress! Let out people come back home and invest!

Nigeria can be what God has ordained it to be if we all do this- sacrifice personal interest for national interest! Sacrifice personal ambition as those independent ethnic groups sacrificed their personal identity for the unity of this country.

I wish all of us the strength to do what is right. In Jesus name. Amen!

ZONING IS THE SOLUTION NOT BIAFRA

The idea of selecting leaders in Nigeria via the zoning system should be applauded; it is just that the application of the zoning is where the error is. If we have six geopolitical zones and insist that each zone must take turns then why do these zones compete against each other in every election? If the rule is not about numbers and parties but about recognizing the various religious & ethnic sensitivities which is much deeper, then why the cross geopolitical competitions?

The zoning system should therefore be redesigned to allow all the six geopolitical zones to participate directly in leadership with each zone bringing its sweet or bitter flavour to governance. Zoning should be done in such a way that the outcome of the election will fall to the zone whose turn it is to rule.

Every geopolitical zone & parties should be able to present a candidate from the zone whose turn it is to take over power, this means that every political party can present candidates from the same zone to represent their interest.

For example: since the South-south and the south-west has done their turns the next election should be zoned to the South-east. Every geopolitical zone or political party should therefore present a South-east candidate for all Nigerians to choose from that way the outcome will fall to that zone making our elections less predictable.

The next geopolitical zone in the north whose turn it is in the north should present candidates from that Northern geopolitical zone,  the Southern zones will also present a candidate from the northern zone too for Nigerians to choose from. Making it less complicated.

This will further enhance the relationship between all geopolitical zones and encourage the spirit of one Nigeria.

Reduce the need to rig elections. Making it more competitive in terms of leadership qualities, development and general output of the leaders.

Security is also guaranteed since the competition is zoned to one place and not against another zone then any political attacks will be contained within that zone.

The formula should be made clear for generations to come by passing it into law.

South-east President with North-east Vice

North-west President South-west Vice

South-south President North-central etc. And rotated again where those in the Vice positions takes turn to lead.

Each geopolitical zone can have a taste of power thereby halting the old agitations arising from marginalization.

If the Northern zones have come together to present Amechi from South-east then the South-west should present their South-east candidate or join with the South-east to create a formidable opponent against the northern choice. Simple!

With time they will also see the need to reduce the number of political parties.

Jagaban may have to play the role of a King maker once again because we can all see the political formulas are changing. Jagaban pioneered the change that PMB vocalized so he may just continue his call to support those who will do the job of building this nation.

May wisdom prevail. Amen.

ELECTION SPECULATIONS 2023 (A 4 mins read)

Eight years seemed like a very long time but in the next 18 months Buhari's tenure will be over that's if he does not decide to make history by becoming the first president to resign from office. He had very few good people to work with in this business of nation building. He really did suffer for this country.

Replacing the word prophecy with speculation for a good reason. Nigerian pastors have made a mess of the gift of prophesy due to their lack of wisdom. The spiritual gift of Word of wisdom also goes with prophesy (1 Cor. 12) I recalled one of my psychic group meetings when a senior colleague made a prediction on the election between Hilary Clinton & Donald Trump. She said the outcome of the election will shock the world and there will be a twist in the upcoming events in America. Indirectly predicting that Donald Duke would win the election & he will be impeached because all expected victory for Hilary Clinton. I also will like to quote from the lecture Astrology, The Grail Message where the author said clearly that "...None can see the whole...". I am guided by these experiences understanding that the only constant thing in life is change.

APC

The next election will bring a lot of surprises to many who are not familiar with the political energy of Nigeria. It seem predictable but it will shock many if they continue to go by the current variables. APC needs to look beyond their desire to retain power and look at the need of the nation as a whole by testing the spirit (energy) in the air 1 John 4:1. To make this obvious needs a general knowledge,  a major campaign point & profer solutions.

The need for security based solutions for this country cannot be over emphasized. We can all see Nigeria has been under serious security threats both within & without, almost all our borders have been attacked making our economy to suffer badly. Some of the citizens of this country do not behave as if they need a viable & secure country with the way they commit crimes putting the internal security forces under pressure. It takes good leadership & co-operating citizens to make a country work! Ask Switzerland &  others.

Many cannot feel the resonances from the last civil war, they think the change from military rule to civilian rule must be absolute because they do not see the power of the military in governance, a nation is nothing without her security. They also refuse to see the main energy (spirit) that lead to the last civil war as gross indiscipline of the average Nigerian (especially the elite & ruling class) thereby generating agitations that were well concealed under tribalism & religious sentiments.

They do not also see that the energy presently playing out is a transition period from military rule to civilian rule which is needed for the country to become truly civil because Nigerians are not behaving as if they are ready for the civilization (the change) they are clamoring for. They have a misconception of what civil rule truly means. It's actually an attitude problem- an attitude of indiscipline & disrespect for the rule of law which is the very foundation for civil rule.

Due to this transition we will once again witness that a total civilian leader will have a problem controlling or working with the preexisting security structures such as the military, ask President Goodluck Jonathan & others. An already compromised military needs to be controlled by someone who has been an insider! It will be a great challenge for a leader who does not have a military background to flow with this on-going 'transition energy'. So, any political party that presents a leader with these quality is more likely to win. This military-civilian rule transition is likely to last for 50 years or for as long as Nigerians refuse to willingly play their role in building this nation- to change!

APC may need to call on Comrade Adams Oshiomole's expertise once again as a leader. There are spies disguised as party loyalist who may attempt to take out the party from the inside with peace draining ideas. The same people who initiated & fueled the last rancor making him go into a battle without the right weapons are still there.

JAGABAN

He is an all Nigerian, de-tribalized citizen of this country, every intelligent & unbiased person can see this. He initiated development in Lagos. He made Lagosians to experience the benefits of good governance he also put a structure in place for continuity.

Is Jagaban the solution Nigeria needs at this time considering the complicated security challenges? Governorship is not Presidential, he is likely to be overwhelmed by it all being a civilian considering the issues on ground. Can his physical & mental condition handle it? Nigeria is not a piece of cake.

The Nigerian military will give more of their allegiance to one of their own than to as they often say; "a bloody civilian"  We need not research further to see how some senior military officers took advantage of ex President Goodluck Jonathan ignorance on security affairs. We can compare this with the former presidents Obasanjo & Buhari's control of the security forces.

Jagaban may have to once again play the role of a king maker, to search for a South westerner who has a military background, a retired General, a party loyalist who is a Christian merged with a de-tribalized northern muslim running mate. If PDP works with this formula they will likely win the next election, except if votes don't count since we are not considering a cost effective e-voting system.

PDP

South-south produced the last president for the south under PDP, the continous attacks stirred sentiment in Nigerians which extended the stay of Goodluck Jonathan in power, the state of insecurity & pressure of the oppositions knocked him out. The security issues still did not disappear after he left power because the military is compromised.

PDP is one party Nigerians who have been affected by their bad leadership style dread so much but if APC does not tighten up loose ends there will be a replay of Edo state. Although Edo state may be PDP but it is ruled by the APC spirit Gov. Obaseki took there.

SOUTH-EAST

Wether they like it or not the south east needs a lot of home work to do. They need to learn the existing permutations for leadership in this country. Expecting leadership to be packaged and delivered to the South East is not  workable except if a Goodluck Jonathan scenario plays out again. It is most likely to play out if an undisciplined southeast runing mate makes it there prematurely. The Southeast elite should please accept the fact that every Igbo rich man cannot be a leader. They must let other ethnic group know that they have outgrown tribalism, religious sentiments & now have a deeper understanding for the concept of leadership. Seeing the Biafran agitations for what it is! Which is totally alien to Ojukwu's concepts and intentions.

Eze ndi igbo in communities outside the southeast shows the tolerance level of their host communities where Igbos insist on having their own kings but that "ilegal structure" is a living indictment against the Igbos which is also a major obstacle standing against them in their tussle for leadership.

There is no Oba of yorubas in the south east or pseudo kings from other communities in the southeast, something the igbos may not tolerate. The south east elite & monarchs need to look at leadership beyond acquiring power but to see it as service to the people and do to other tribes what they wish to be done to them.

These are not prophesies but mere interpretation of the existing political energies in the country.

I pray with well meaning Nigerians for all us to have attained the right psychic conditions necessary for attracting the kind of leaders that will lead us in accordance with God's will or else we will have to make do with the kind of leaders we deserve.

Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria. A sabotaging ruling class & selfish elite multiplied by undisciplined citizens is the right formula for a failed state.

May God help us.
